Silica Brick Details
Silica brick is made of silicon as raw material with high temp firing ,which silicon oxide is above93%, used in hot blast furnace, coke oven, glass kiln, these brick have good volume stability at high temperature, high refractoriness under the load, small rate of shrinkage in working condition.
Silica refractories are refractories with silica as the main component. The silica content is usually not less than 93%. It can be pided into shaped and unshaped refractory materials. The main variety is silicon brick. Using silica as the raw material and firing at 1350~1 430℃, the main phases in the silica brick are transformed into scale quartz, cristobalite and glass. The true density must be in the range of 2.31 to 2.42 grams per cubic centimeter. It has the advantages of high thermal conductivity and high softening point under load, and strong resistance to acid slag erosion.
Raw materials for manufacturing silicon bricks include main raw materials, binders and mineralizers. The main raw material of silicon brick is quartz. There are many varieties of quartz in nature, from the crystalline state to see the crystals of flint to ideal crystals, etc., these two varieties of refractory materials are not suitable, because the calcination process of low-temperature quartz to various high-temperature crystal types Sometimes there is instantaneous transformation (such as flint), or the transformation is particularly slow (such as crystal), and the most suitable for making silica brick refractories is cemented quartzite or massive quartzite. In addition, the burning waste products produced during the production of silicon bricks can also be used as raw materials, which can reduce the burning expansion of the brick blanks and reduce the burning waste products. However, the addition of waste bricks will reduce the fire resistance and mechanical strength of the products, and increase the porosity. Therefore, the addition of waste bricks is usually controlled below 20%. The binders in the manufacture of silicon bricks are lime and organic binders. Lime is added to the billet in the form of lime milk, combined with the quartz particles in the brick, to increase the strength of the brick after drying. The most commonly used organic binder is sulfurous acid pulp waste liquid, whose function is to improve the plasticity of the blank and the strength of the brick after drying. Another function of lime is to act as a mineralizer during the firing process and promote the transformation of quartz. In addition, there are also mineralizers such as rolled steel skin (iron-phosphorus), open furnace slag, sulfuric acid slag, pyrolusite, etc.
Silica products are acid refractory materials, which have strong resistance to acid jealous slag, but are easily eroded by alkaline slag, and are easily damaged by the effects of potassium oxide, sodium oxide and other oxides, but oxidize ferrous oxide, iron oxide The object has good resistance. The typical product in silicon products, silicon brick, has the characteristics of high load deformation temperature, and its load softening temperature is close to the melting point of phosphorus quartz and cristobalite (1670℃, 1713℃); the brick brick body has good air tightness and structure Strength, the biggest disadvantage is the low thermal shock stability. They are mainly used for structural materials of coke ovens, glass melting furnaces, acid steel-making furnaces and other thermal equipment.
