Ladle Shroud Details
Ladle shrouds are used as a tube for flow of molten steel from steel ladle to tundish. They stabilize molten-steel streams and protect molten steel from splashing and being oxidized. This product is pressed refractory functional part, which features superior thermal shock resistance, slag erosion resistance, wear resistance, easy to be installed and free of preheating, which will greatly improve the working conditions .
The design of the material of the ladle shrouds is mainly based on the cast steel type, casting time and the type of tundish covering agent. At present, Al2O3-C material is mainly used. This material has strong adaptability to the steel type, and is particularly suitable for casting special steel, which has little pollution to molten steel.
In order to meet the needs of efficient continuous casting, the best composition design can be made according to the different use conditions of each part of the long nozzle to obtain the longest service life. The wrist wears and it is easy to inhale air, usually low SiO2 or SiO2-free Al2O3-C material may reduce the content of graphite appropriately. Due to the corrosion of tundish covering agent and molten steel, the slag line part often becomes the main factor affecting the long nozzle life. Depending on the covering agent, ZrO2-C or MgO-C can be used.
Currently, there are two main development directions for Changshuikou. One is the development of SiO2-free long nozzles. Traditional Al2O3-C long nozzles usually contain a certain amount of fused silica to improve thermal shock resistance. However, due to FeO reacts to produce a low-melting substance, which reduces the corrosion resistance and erosion resistance of the material. Therefore, when casting high-manganese steel or high-oxygen steel, Al2O3-C materials that do not contain SiO2 were developed. Compared with the traditional Al2O3- C material, the thermal expansion coefficient of this material is relatively large, and the preheating conditions must be accurately controlled.
