Kaolin Clay Details
Products Description
The mineral composition of kaolin clay is mainly composed of kaolinite, halloysite, hydromica, illite, montmorillonite, quartz, feldspar and other minerals. It is mostly dull, and when it is pure, it is white and delicate. If it contains impurities, it may contain Grey, yellow, brown and other colors. The appearance can be loose soil block or compact rock block according to different causes. Density 2.54-2.60 g/cm3. The melting point is about 1785°C. With plasticity, wet soil can be molded into various shapes without breaking, and can remain unchanged for a long time.
Features
1.High Refractoriness: It has a high melting point, which makes it highly resistant to heat. It can withstand high temperatures without significant deformation or loss of structural integrity.
2. Thermal Stability: Kaolin clay exhibits good thermal stability. This quality is crucial in refractory applications where materials are subjected to extreme heat and cooling cycles.
3. Binding and Plasticity: It exhibits good binding and plasticity characteristics, allowing it to be easily formed into various shapes and structures. It can be mixed with other refractory materials to form cohesive mixtures for molding or casting.
Application
1.Ceramic Industry: Refractory kaolin is used in the ceramic industry for the production of high-temperature ceramics such as kiln furniture, ceramic crucibles, and refractory ceramic components. Kaolin clay provides the necessary thermal resistance and mechanical strength required in these applications.
2.Iron and Steel Industry: Kaolin Clay is extensively used in the iron and steel industry. It is employed in the construction of blast furnaces, hot blast stoves, and other high-temperature equipment. Kaolin-based refractories provide thermal insulation, erosion resistance, and thermal shock resistance in these harsh environments.
3.Cement Industry: It is used in the production of refractory materials for the cement industry. It is incorporated into the lining of cement kilns and other cement production equipment to withstand the high temperatures and chemical reactions that occur during the cement manufacturing process.
